The following should be kept away from the computer:
Magnets: They can erase disks and ruin your monitor.
Foods/Liquids: Liquids can be "deadly" if spilled on or around the computer area. Food crumbs can get into your keyboard.
Chalk Dust and Pencil Shavings: These can get into the computer, disk drive or keyboard and cause erratic behavior or crashes.
CLEANING: Never spray a cleaner directly on the computer or keyboard. Contact the computer teacher if you have questions.
Computer Case: Spray a general spray cleaner on a soft cloth and wipe case down.
Keyboard: Spray a general spray cleaner on a soft cloth and gently wipe the keyboard and keys. Make sure the computer is turned off. You can try a Q-Tip with some rubbing alcohol to get to some of the hard-to-get-to places.
Mouse-Infrared: Spray a general spray cleaner on a soft cloth and wipe outside.
Mouse w/ Ball: Turn the mouse over and remove the mouse ball. Use a Q-Tip with rubbing alcohol to get the gummy dirt off the contact points.
