Learning Center

Beth Lullman and Jean Sinovic are full-time teachers in the learning center at Christ, Prince of Peace School. Mrs. Lullman is the reading resource specialist for grades 1-3, and Mrs. Sinovic is the learning consultant for grades 4-8. We coordinate with classroom teachers to meet the needs of children with learning differences.

Mrs. Lullman works with struggling readers. In addition to receiving reading instruction in the classroom, these children see Mrs. Lullman for small group instruction in the learning center. Mrs. Sinovic works with students who have a formal, current diagnosis (e.g. ADD/ADHD, anxiety, learning disability, central auditory processing disorder, language impairment) and a learning profile containing individual educational accommodations. Students in grades 4-8 receive all instruction in the classroom but may take tests in the learning center and learn testing strategies.

Our job duties are varied and include preparation of Special School District packets, attending Services Plan meetings, developing education plans, serving as a resource to teachers, parents, and students, and advocating for students with learning differences. Each year we coordinate speech and language screenings at our school. We attend workshops and seminars and share this information with the faculty. In addition, we have arranged for various professionals to speak to our teachers about central auditory processing disorder, language impairment, ADD/ADHD, social and emotional aspects of giftedness, and vision problems that interfere with reading and learning.
