Mission Statement

Christ, Prince of Peace after school care provides a safe, fun, faith filled environment from 3:00-6:00 pm for students whose parents are unable to pick them up or may otherwise be left home alone after school.

Location

After school care will be provided at Christ, Prince of Peace School.  Many locations will be utilized to accommodate other activities after school.  The main location will be in the gym and gym foyer where we can take advantage of having two separate areas.  The first area in the foyer is designated for homework, studying, reading, or any other quiet activities. The second area in the gym can be used for more physical activities the children will enjoy.  On nice days we will take advantage of the field behind the school, which has plenty of room for quiet areas and more active areas.  When these locations are unavailable we will use the cafeteria or a classroom for less energetic activities. There will be a sign at the entrance of school letting parents know where the children are located each day.

Activities/Schedule

3:00-3:20 pm- Bathroom break, snack, discuss the daily activities
3:20-4:30 pm- Daily activities and homework
4:30-6:00 pm- Free play with activities provided, board games,
cards, games in the gym, etc.

Electronic devices are not permitted during after school care.

Students are expected to arrive immediately after school is dismissed.  The only exception is for students who are attending a school sponsored extracurricular activity.  In this case, parents must notify after school care where the student will be.  Students will not be permitted to leave school property and return to after school care.

Discipline

Students will be expected to follow all of the rules associated with a normal school day.

In Case of Misbehavior

1st infraction:  The student will be spoken to by an adult helping him or her to understand what was wrong with his/her actions.

2nd infraction: The student will be removed from the activity and required to sit quietly on the side.  An adult will speak with the student to make sure he/she understands the behavior was wrong and to find a solution for his/her actions.  After the student has been spoken to, he or she understands what was done was wrong, and a solution has been reached, then the student will be able to return to the activity.

3rd infraction: If the behavior continues he/she will be given a Write About It.  He/she will explain what rules were broken, how this affected those around them, a solution to the problem, and what could have been done to prevent this from happening.  The Write About It must be signed by a parent and returned the next day.

Students who consistently act out, show disrespect, or are violent toward others will either be suspended from after school care or asked not to return.

Pick Up

Students may be picked up any time before 6:00 pm.  Parents must sign out their child for security and so accurate records of attendance can be maintained.  If someone other than the parent of  the student or an authorized person is picking them up, after school care must be notified.  No student will be allowed to leave with anyone unfamiliar to the staff without a phone call to the parents and photo identification.

A charge of $1.00 per minute will be charged for any student picked up after 6:00 pm.  This fee is charged per child.
